The Clerk's Office of the United States District Court for the District of Oregon is now accepting applications for the position of Financial Specialist II in the Portland Division. As a member of the finance team, the Financial Specialist II performs and coordinates administrative, technical and professional work related to financial, accounting, and budgetary activities for the Court, including ensuring compliance with the appropriate guidelines, policies, and internal controls.Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications: To qualify for a CL-27 classification level the incumbent must have two years of specialized experience. Specialized experience is progressively responsible experience in at least one but preferably two or more of the functional areas of financial management and administration such as budgeting, accounting, auditing, or financial reporting that provided a knowledge of rules, regulations, and terminology of financial administration.Or
Completion of the requirements for a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and one of the following superior academic achievement requirements:
- An overall "B" grade point average equaling 2.90 or better of a possible 4.0;
- Standing in the upper third of the class;
- "3.5" average or better in the major field of study, such as business or public administration, human resources management, industrial relations, or psychology;
- Election to membership in Phi Beta Kappa, Sigma XI, or one of the National Honorary Scholastic Societies meeting the minimum requirements of the Association of College Honor Societies, other than Freshman Honor Societies; or
- Completion of one academic year (18 semester or 27 quarter hours) of graduate study in an accredited university in business or public administration, political science, criminal justice, law, or other fields closely related to the subject matter of the position.
Desired Qualifications: In addition to the minimum qualifications, the following qualifications are highly preferred but not required:
- Completion of a bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree related to accounting, finance, or other fields closely related to the subject matter of the position.
- Three or more years of specialized experience.
Candidates must also demonstrate:
- A consistent past employment record;
- Experience in dealing with routine and complex assignments;
- Excellent typing and proofreading skills;
- A demonstrated ability to think through, analyze, and interpret written communications;
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work assignments;
- Superior oral and written communication skills;
- Strong interpersonal skills; and
- A professional demeanor and appearance appropriate for a law or professional office environment.
